HB 319, or its companion in the senate, SB 271, would expand the definition of “electronic nicotine delivery system” to include delivery of substances other than tobacco. The redefinition expands Alabama’s enforcement authority to include zero-nicotine liquids which are not subject to review and authorization by the US FDA. This expansion is effectively a de facto ban on nicotine-free vaping products simply because the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products does not regulate them.

Take action by contacting your lawmakers and urge them to reject HB 319 (SB 217). HB 319 is expected to be taken up by the full House on Tuesday, May 16.
